Masks.
Masks…the new norm for society but have you been living with your mask on much longer than the COVID-19 pandemic?
A mask is defined as “a covering for all or part of the face, worn as a disguise, or to amuse other people.”
I used to be so insecure about stepping out or being seen without makeup. Through this pandemic, I am learning to find deeper beauty within and not from the artificial “mask” on my face. I decided to take off that “mask” and look to my Creator for my beauty reassurance and security and not look to society to compare myself against photoshopped images and what we might think are “flawless” faces.
It’s a continuous battle but it’s a choice we all have to make to renew our minds in Christ. Not only do I want you to be “transformed by the renewal of your mind” but God does too so that you too can experience security in Christ alone. Some practical ways that I do this is to spend time in God’s Word daily, pray throughout my day, post scripture around our home, write down three things I’m thankful for every day, and memorize scripture. Memorizing scripture is important for fighting the lies of the enemy we face each day that cause us to feel insecure and put on our “masks” to hide our true self.
Are there other “masks” that you are wearing? Perhaps the “mask” of telling others you’re “okay” when you’re truly shattered on the inside or going through something challenging but are scared to share it? Are you trying to disguise yourself or amuse others with your deceptive words when you really know that’s not true?
I want to encourage you to share your deepest hurts and insecurities with trusted women that can speak life over you, pray with you and walk through the healing that God has for you so that you can live in true freedom. Take off your “mask” and walk in true radiance! On days that are 95 degrees and I’m wearing my mask, there’s a true relief and freedom once I’m able to take it off to breathe in fresh air. I want you to experience that same relief and freedom after you take your mask off too!
Head to my Instagram to let me know what mask you’re taking off!
Sending my love,
Gayle
