Hands full yet your heart empty?
Life is full! Every day is full of to-dos, full of activities, full laundry baskets, a sink full of dishes… you get the point.
My days are full with a two and a three year old always around me. It’s hard to find a minute to fill my heart and soul. l have to choose to leave the sink full of dishes (David is really good at doing dishes ha!) and the laundry baskets full so that I can fill my heart with the Word of God. I love reading my bible with a cup of Chai with two flower shaped ice cubes, or as you can see, occasional fresh watermelon juice. It took me a long time to realize that it’s better to have a sink full of dishes but a heart full of joy.
This is what Jesus wants for us! Remember Mary and Martha? Check out Luke 10:38-42. Sitting at His feet pleases Him more than worrying about all that needs to be done.
Bottom line: my heart feels empty when I don’t spend time in God’s Word.
Do you have days or even months where you feel empty? Maybe you don’t know Jesus yet but let me tell you that He’s the only one that can truly fill your empty heart and soul.
What are you doing to keep your heart truly full?
Sending my love,
Gayle
“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
