MY STORY

I was born on a hobby farm (farm for fun) in a small Minnesota town. My parents still don’t have cell phone service at their home and the total town population is 150 (including pets). I now live in a small apartment in a big city with my husband and two kids under 4. The complete opposite of where I grew up. I live in the constant stress, hustle, and craziness of city-living yet enjoy all that the city has to offer. I not only hear the garbage truck at 2AM but also “mommy, mommy” non-stop. Life is full of blessings!

My mission for this blog is to encourage other women and to offer a place to read about real life. It’s hard to find authentic, genuine blogs that share struggles and also victories. I want to share our adventures and life lessons we’ve learned so far in an authentic and relatable way. From the moment our two year old had a tantrum on the sidewalk to finding out David had cancer when I was 34 weeks pregnant and everything in between.

I wish I could sit down with you as I share these stories and thoughts. As you read, please imagine that I’m sitting right there with you and we are learning from each other.

I’m cheering you on! I can’t wait to connect with you and hear your story.

Sending my love!

First Comes Love...

I moved to NYC in 2013 to manage the women’s collection at a Fifth Avenue store. One way ticket to NYC, yes please! I was thrilled and made the move without knowing anyone. I can’t explain the feeling I had the first time walking down Fifth Avenue on my way to work. It was a dream come true. But the move was also a complete culture shock. David and I met at a church a few months after my move. He was overseeing the bible study I joined and when he asked the group to exchange phone numbers, I thought nothing of it. Riding on the train on New Years Eve he asked me to see a movie and I told him that I would see Frozen. He continued to ask me to hang out and we often met up around Union Square as we both lived along the “L-train.”

Then Comes Marriage...

We started dating on February 14th. I asked that he fill out an “application to date my daughter” and send it to my dad prior to asking me to be his girlfriend. He did it and sent it to my dad so I knew he was serious. Many dates and fun adventures later, we both got confirmation that being together was God’s plan. We got engaged on September 28th on a gondola in Central Park after dinner at the Boat House. It was movie worthy and I honestly couldn’t have come up with a more perfect engagement myself. We were married on a beach in Mexico 4 short months later.

I always told David that I wanted a marriage more beautiful than our wedding and we continue to work on this daily.

Then Comes a Baby (Actually Babies) in a Baby Carriage...

In 2016, when I was pregnant with Hudson, I was working for a baby stroller company. I knew all the products that we needed (or wanted) well before his arrival. Hudson arrived in November and no words can explain the feeling of holding your baby for the first time. After two months back at work, I decided to give my notice. I knew I was meant to be a stay at home mom and not continue my life in the corporate world. When giving my notice, I cried because I loved my job and the baby industry but I accepted my dream job as a STAY AT HOME MOM. A few short months later we found out we were adding another little one to our family. Grace joined us 17 months after Hudson. Her timing was a blessing from above as David started cancer treatment a week after her birth. Motherhood is one of the reasons why I decided to start this blog.

It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done yet it’s the most rewarding position I’ll ever hold.
